Kevin Labadini Corp., a commercial landscaping and snow removal firm operating in Massachusetts since 1953, has been acquired by a rapidly growing New Jersey firm backed by private equity.
Riverview Landscapes, a firm owned by New York-based private investment firm Talus Holdings, has purchased Labadini, Riverview announced Tuesday. The acquisition is Riverview’s 26th since it was founded in 2022.
Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
The acquisition was the result of two years of discussions with Labadini Corp., with the purchase helping Riverview expand its presence in New England, said Liam Burrell, CFO of Riverview Landscapes.
Beyond New England, Riverview operates in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Labadini Corp. will continue to serve its existing customers, assisted by the support of Riverview’s existing location in Hudson.
The firm was founded in 1953 by Italian immigrant Philip Labadini and was originally located in Wellesley before moving to Marlborough and eventually to Shrewsbury, according to its website. Philip’s grandson Kevin acquired the business in 1992.
”I have spent 30 years building this business, and choosing the right partner was something I took seriously,” Kevin Labadini said in the announcement. “I believe Labadini Corp. will continue to thrive as part of their platform.”
Talus Holdings’ portfolio includes Main Street Auto, an Atlanta-based chain of auto repair shops, and Black Diamond, a Houston-based firm that offers rental equipment to companies in the oil and gas sector.
