Beverly-based Rucker Investments has purchased Worcester-based Pagio, Inc., the publisher behind Pulse Magazine and CM Pride Magazine.
The two publications will operate under the newly established Worcester media company Merit House Media.
The acquisition was finalized on Friday, Rucker announced Monday. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Rucker Investments is run by Worcester Railers Owner Cliff Rucker and his wife, Susan.
Merit House Media will be led by Kate McEvoy, a Central Mass. executive who has worked for a swath of local and state institutions, including WBJ. McEvoy most recently worked as vice president of external affairs and corporate relations at Old Sturbridge Village.
Pagio, based in Worcester, was founded in 2004 and was run by Paul Giorgio. Pulse focuses on lifestyle and entertainment and CM Pride on the Central Mass. LGBTQ+ community.

“For decades, Central Massachusetts has felt the pain of being in an under-represented media market,” McEvoy said in the announcement. “Our goal is to become the premier platform that both promotes the region’s vibrancy and serves as the go-to source for lifestyle, community, and entertainment news and experiences.”
Other businesses in Rucker Investments’ Worcester portfolio include Worcester Railers HC, venues Off the Rails and The Palladium, startup accelerator Auxilium, and the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
