Realtors Optimistic In March

A price index compiled by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors hit an all-time high in March while the organization’s market index hit its second-highest point on record, MAR reported.

The price index was 57.73 in March, up from 48.69 a year ago. The index measures Realtors’ expectations of prices over the coming year.

The market index was 49.54, up from 32.09 a year ago. It was the second-highest score ever for the index behind a period in 2010 when a federal homebuyer tax credit was in effect.

Realtors were also surveyed about clients’ concerns about job losses, and 61 percent reported that clients were “mildly concerned,” while 30 percent reported “significant concern.” The remainder reported no concern.
