Technology public relations firm Rainier Communications in Westborough has named Sarah LaLiberte its next CEO, marking the first CEO shift at the company in 33 years.
LaLiberte replaces founder Steve Schuster, who will stay on as an adviser to oversee the transition, the company announced Monday.
LaLiberte, who worked at Rainier for three years between 1998 and 2001, is expected to purchase the business by the end of the summer. She has worked extensively in public relations and communications in the years since, including for sectors that fall under the Rainier umbrella, like semiconductors, AI, wireless, automotive technology, and more.
“This really does feel full circle,” LaLiberte said in the company announcement. “Rainier is one of the places where I learned how to do this work: how to understand the technology, respect the client and care about the story enough to get it right. Coming back now, after spending my career in many of the same markets Rainier serves, means a great deal to me.”
The transition is intended to keep the company’s team, client relationships, and technology focus intact.
“Sarah knows who we are, she knows the technology markets we serve, and she shares the values that have made Rainier what it is,” Schuster said in the announcement. “This protects the team, protects the clients and protects the culture we’ve built over more than three decades. I’m incredibly confident Rainier is in the right hands.”
