Chris Duane, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest, will retire after 30 years with the organization, it announced Tuesday.
Duane has served as a leader at the nonprofit for 30 years. Under her leadership, the organization has grown from a single clubhouse outpost to a three-clubhouse operation serving 3,200 young people annually. Notably, she oversaw the $1-million renovation of the organization’s Framingham clubhouse in 2008. Her replacement has not yet been announced, nor has her final departure date.
In honor of Duane’s service, the nonprofit will dedicate its annual fundraising gala and auction to her career.
“Chris has given everything to this mission,” Robert Borek, chair of the board of directors, said in a statement. “What she built here isn’t just a stronger organization — it’s a community of people whose lives were genuinely changed. We are honoring her legacy by doing what she always did: keeping the focus on the young people who walk through our doors every day.”Â
The gala will be held at the Renaissance Framingham Hotel & Conference Center on Oct. 23.
To further mark Duane’s legacy, the organization is collecting testimonials from club members and alumni whose lives were influenced either directly by Duane or by the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest more broadly. More information about submitting stories can be found on the gala website.
