The Producer Price Index for final demand fell 0.3 percent in December, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday.
The Producer Price Index measures prices of goods at the wholesale level.
The decrease followed a 0.2-percent fall in November and a 0.2 percent rise in October.
December’s 0.3-percent decline in the final demand index can be traced to a 1.2-percent drop in prices for final demand goods, the BLS reported. In contrast, it said, the index for final demand services moved up 0.2 percent.
On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand increased 1.1 percent in 2014 after rising 1.2 percent in 2013, the BLS reported.
