Pomp and circumstance promised at WPI graduation

Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s May 19 graduation ceremony will include a commencement address by Deborah Dunshire, president and CEO of Millennium Pharmaceuticals of Cambridge.

Dunshire has been CEO of Millennium since 2005. She previously led the U.S. oncology business of drugmaker Novartis.

Along with honorary degrees for Bernard M. Gordon, founder of Analogic Corp., scientist-author Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Frederick P. Rose, the director of the Hayden Planetarium, WPI will also confer its presidential medal upon Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray.

Murray, the former three-term mayor of Worcester, is now in his first term as lieutenant governor.
