Marlborough-based Egenera Inc., a data center virtualization company, has been granted a patent for its processing area network technology (PAN) architecture, which is at the heart of every software and hardware technology the company offers, Egenera said today.
PAN architecture virtualizes network, storage and computing resources, which in turn enables application and data services to be provisioned, managed, migrated and scaled transparently, the company said.
“Our PAN arcitecture patent is undoubtedly the most important innovation recognition we’ve achieved in our history, as well as the most important enabler for our sustomers’ success with Egnera solutions,” said Pete Manca, executive vice president of engineering and Egenera’s CTO.
