Northborough-based dental device manufacturer Solmetex has expanded its product portfolio with the acquisition of ReLeaf, a fellow dental device developer out of Washington state.
With the acquisition, Solmetex adds ReLeaf’s hands-free dental suction devices to the manufacturer’s offerings. When placed in the mouth, ReLeaf’s devices offer 280 degrees of suction to keep the mouth dry during scalings, polishings, and restorative procedures, according to the company’s website.
“Bringing ReLeaf into the Solmetex family strengthens our platform of patient safety and efficiency solutions. Their intuitive, hands-free evacuation technology complements our existing portfolio and helps us support a wider range of clinical needs. We’re excited to partner with the ReLeaf team as we continue helping practices deliver exceptional patient care,” Gene Dorff, Solmetex CEO, said in a Jan. 13 press release announcing the purchase.
Solmetex did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
“We are excited to become part of the Solmetex family. Solmetex has a long history of superior customer service and working with the Dental industry. Over the past several years, Solmetex has invested to expand their sales, marketing, and customer service teams, making this the right time for ReLeaf to join Solmetex. Together we will be able to make the ReLeaf product line more accessible to dental offices in the United States and Canada,” Phil Fraser, ReLeaf CEO, said in the release.
Founded in 1996, Solmetex produces dental water management products that keep waterlines safe to use during procedures, manages water waste, and prevents diseases through hygienic suction.
In October, the company raised $200 million in a private equity funding round with GTCR, a Chicago-based private equity firm, acting as lead investor, according to private company financial tracker Crunchbase.
