Nine Central Mass. firms named to Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women list

Nine Central Massachusetts companies have been recognized for their efforts to promote sex equality within their operations as they’ve made Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women.

Fifty-six Massachusetts businesses made it onto the magazine’s list of 1,000 U.S. companies identified by Newsweek as actively dismantling gender barriers by promoting equitable policies and workplace cultures, according to the publication’s website.

The nine Central Massachusetts firms on Newsweek’s list are:

  • BJ’s Wholesale Club in Marlborough
  • Boston Scientific in Marlborough
  • Consigli Construction in Milford
  • Cumberland Farms in Westborough
  • Fallon Health in Worcester
  • Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester
  • TalentBurst in Natick
  • UMass Memorial Health in Worcester
  • Waters Corp. in Milford

To compile its greatest workplaces list, Newsweek partnered with Plant-A Insights Group, a New York City-based market research firm. Plant-A compiled more than 1.1 million company reviews from more than 89,000 female employees, 120 key performance indicators comprising 37 million data points.

Some of these metrics included the share of women holding management and leadership positions, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reports, and programs supporting women.

All nine Central Massachusetts included companies are led by men.

Census Bureau data shows the wage gap between men and women grew in 2025 for the second year in a row, Jennifer Cunningham, Newsweek’s editor-in-chief, wrote in her introduction to Newsweek’s list on the ranking’s website, adding female employees still face unconscious bias in hiring and promotions, gender stereotypes, and career advancement limitations.

“We hope this ranking highlights the organizations setting new standards for women in the workplace and serves as a valuable resource for those seeking employers aligned with their professional goals and values,” Cunningham wrote.
