Fitchburg-based nonprofit NewVue Communities is searching for a new executive director for the first time in 24 years.
Former executive director Marc Dohan is now in the role of senior director of real estate development at the nonprofit, according to its website. Dohan had led NewVue Communities since 2002.
A job posting for the executive director role was posted in early April, with NewVue using Pennsylvania-based search firm DSG | Koya to help fill the role. A salary of $180,000-$190,000 is listed for the position.
Dohan’s role change happened in January. Timothy Johnstone is now serving as interim executive director of NueVue Communities, moving up from the role of interim deputy director.
"I've been working at NewVue a long time. I felt like I've accomplished a lot." Dohan said. "I wanted to help the agency sort of focus on its real estate pipeline and change jobs up a little bit."
A former chief operating officer at Worcester-based Ascentria Care Alliance, Johnstone has served as the interim leader at five different organizations, including a stint leading Worcester-based nonprofit Greater Worcester Community Foundation from 2022 to 2023.
The executive director search comes amid more leadership changes, as Director of Development and Communications Kerry Flathers is leaving the organization on Thursday, she announced on LinkedIn.
“I’m fortunate that NewVue has asked me to provide contracted work (remotely!) while they work to fill some other leadership positions and then focus on the DDC position,” she wrote. “I will do so from my new home in Virginia.”
NewVue Communities status as a community development corporation sees it work to revitalize 22 communities in North Central, working on housing developments, providing support for local small businesses, and participating in community organizing.
The nonprofit opened its Fitchburg Arts Community, a 68-unit affordable artist lofts at former municipal buildings, in September. The organization is now working on Residences at the Park, a 53-unit inter-generational residential building in Athol.
NewVue reported $3.85 million in total revenue and $3.82 million in expenses in fiscal 2024, with $4.18 million in total assets, according to nonprofit data provider Guidestar.
