Worcester-based Geisel Software, which has appeared on Inc. magazine’s list of the fastest-growing companies in the country for the past four years, has appointed a new leader.Jeff Mitchell, former CEO of Connecticut-based document imaging firm Scan-Optics, will serve as CEO of Geisel Software. Founder Brian Geisel will transition from CEO to the role of chief innovation officer. In addition to his time at Scan-Optics, Mitchell has served in executive roles at England-based Compass Group, New York-based LexisNexis, Toronto-based Thomson Reuters, and Germany-based Siemens. He attended the University of Manitoba, according to his LinkedIn profile. Geisel Software ranked 1,549th on the Inc. 5000 in 2022, 2,327th in 2023, 2,556th in 2024, and 4,628th in 2025. The company was founded in 2011 by Geisel, who dropped out of college after a year to write software.
