The creator of the Boston Market chain of restaurants has brought his Boston-based UFood Restaurant Group Inc. chain public.
UFood Grill has nine locations, seven of them in the Boston area, including Bedford, Beverly and Waltham. The chain went public in a reverse merger with KnowFat, a “fast-casual” restaurant operator.
George Naddaff, UFood’s chairman and CEO, said UFood could compete with the likes of Panera Bread Co. and Chipotle Mexican Grill. UFood offers quickly served, low fat, healthy food. UFood franchises also include health-oriented convenience stores.
