According to results from a new Robert Half Technology survey, businesses are becoming more sophisticated about managing employee internet use at work.
Robert Half reported that 78 percent of information officers surveyed said their companies had either installed content-filtering or blocking software, instituted policies for acceptable web browsing, or done a combination of the two.
When information officers were asked for reasons for limiting employee web browsing, 75 percent said it was to prevent employees from accessing inappropriate content at work.
Close behind, with 71 percent, was preventing computer virus attacks and installation of bad software, and to keep employees from wasting time at work.
