Med School & Med Center Land $12.5M Grant

The University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center have landed a $12.5 million grant from the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation of California.

The funding will support the Clinical Facility for Innovative Research and Education (CFIRE), which will be co-located in the new, $120 million Advanced Center for Clinical Care, Education and Sciences ACCES) building on the medical school campus in Worcester.

The grant will provide $7.5 million for capital costs of the ACCES building and $5 million for staffing and equipment.

As part of the grant, the medical school and the medical center are required to raise additional funds from other sources, which with the grant will total $20 million dedicated to the CFIRE and ACCES building programs.

In addition to housing the CFIRE program, the ACCES building will also house various outpatient facilities.
