Mass. Jobs Up, Unemployment Steady

Massachusetts added 10,400 jobs in June, with the largest gains in manufacturing, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.6 percent.

The state economy added 50,000 jobs over the past year, a growth rate of 1.6 percent.

Over the month, manufacturing jobs rose by 2,900, or 1.1 percent. The construction sector gained 2,500 jobs, and the professional, science and business services sector added 2,300.

Government added a total of 100 jobs, reflecting the addition of 800 local government jobs and 200 federal positions along with the loss of 900 state government jobs.
