New orders for durable goods manufactured in the U.S. took a solid hit in August, decreasing by 4.9 percent or $11.3 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The bureau said new orders totaled $219.5 billion in August. The decrease comes after two consecutive monthly increases in new orders, including a 6.1 percent increase in July.
