The unemployment rate in the Framingham area was down in July while the Worcester area rate remained flat, according to the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
In the Framingham area, unemployment dropped by one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.9 percent from 6 percent in June. The rate was down from 6.8 percent a year ago.
The Worcester area’s unemployment rate was stable month-over-month at 8.4 percent, down a full percentage point from July 2010.
Statewide, the July seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.8 percent. The state unadjusted unemployment rate was down seven-tenths of a percentage point from 8.5 percent in July of last year.
