Genuine Cable Group, a Chicago-based wire, cable, connectivity provider with a location in Leominster, has added a Canadian company to its portfolio with the acquisition of United Wire & Cable out of Toronto.
Under the terms of the acquisition, United Wire will operate as part of GCG’s custom engineered solutions group, bringing in products including cable bus feeder systems, field safety tools, and power cable applications, according to a Thursday press release from GCG.
"UWC's differentiated product portfolio and deep application knowledge in power and critical infrastructure make them a natural fit within our custom engineered solutions segment. We are excited to partner with the UWC team and continue investing in their growth,” GCG CEO Glenn Pennycook said in the release.
Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
With the acquisition, CGC looks to expand its offerings with United Wire’s data center and power infrastructure applications, available throughout North America.
For United Wire, CGC said the purchase adds resources, supply chain capabilities, and operational support to the firm while still operating under its own branding.
"GCG's scale, resources and portfolio of complementary solutions will allow us to better support our customers and suppliers while maintaining the culture, relationships and service model that define UWC,” Laura-Anne Tredenick and Robyn Baldasti, owners of United Wire, said in the release.
GCG operates more than 25 locations throughout the U.S., Mexico, Europe, and the United Kingdom, serving industries such as renewable energy, aerospace and defense, manufacturing, and agriculture. In addition to its product portfolio, CGC offers services including engineering and sourcing, and custom assembly.
