In the week ending Sept. 25, 453,000 Americans filed claims for unemployment insurance coverage for the first time, the U.S. Department of Labor said.
That’s a decrease of 16,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 469,000. The 4-week moving average was 458,000, a decrease of 6,250 from the previous week.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 3.5 percent for the week ending Sept. 18, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the prior week.
