Initial Jobless Claims At 456K

In the week ending June 5, 456,000 Americans filed for unemployment insurance coverage for the first time, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

That’s a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 459,000. The 4-week moving average was 463,000, an increase of 2,500 from the previous week.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 3.5 percent for the week ending May 29, a decrease of 0.2 percentage point from the prior week.
