Natick-based National Dentex Corp. reported first quarter net income of $1.7 million on net sales of $43.5 million.
For the same quarter the prior year, the company reported net income of $2.2 million on net sales of $43.3 million. National Dentex is an owner/operator of dental laboratories.
The company said rising costs contributed to its shrinking margin while soft consumer demand made it difficult to raise prices.
