Massachusetts gas prices jumped ten cents since last week as they continued a month-long climb to reach the highest prices for the year in the state.
AAA of New England announced that the average gas price across the state was $1.96 per gallon, equaling the high reached in January. The gas hikes were credited to rebounding oil prices, rising seasonal demand and reduced production, according to AAA.
The Massachusetts price is eight cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.04, according to the organization. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 36 cents higher at $2.32.
