Less than a year after assuming her role as CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Braintree, Carolyn Jackson, the former leader of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, has moved onto a new C-suite role at a Rhode Island facility.
Jackson became the president and COO of Kent Hospital in Warwick on Feb. 2, according to a Jan. 6 press release from the Rhode Island hospital.
This position change comes just 10 months after Jackson took the helm of Encompass’s rehab hospital, a role she assumed in April 2025 following her swift exit from her position as CEO of Saint Vincent in February of that year. Jackson had served as the Worcester facility’s leader for nearly six years.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next President and COO of Kent Hospital and to join the Care New England team. Kent Hospital plays a vital role in the health and well-being of the community, and my focus will be on listening, supporting our dedicated caregivers, and ensuring high-quality, accessible care for every patient," Jackson said in an email to WBJ.
Jackson led Saint Vincent as it underwent contentious battles with its nurses represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association labor union and numerous investigations initiated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Jackson was succeeded at Saint Vincent by Denten Park, who left the role after less than a year. He was replaced by Interim CEO Adam Bracks.
At Encompass, Jackson was replaced with Interim CEO David Coggins, said Lauren Matson, public relations specialist for Encompass Health, in an email to WBJ.
