Former cannabis commissioner promoted at AIM

A former cannabis agency commissioner has received a promotion at statewide industry advocate Associated Industries of Massachusetts.

Nurys Camargo, formerly the social justice appointee to the Worcester-based Cannabis Control Commission, has been promoted to the role of senior vice president of member services at the Boston-based organization. She first joined AIM in June as the vice president of member services.

Camargo was promoted at the same time as Courtney Sullivan, who has been named chief of staff. Sullivan joined AIM in 2024 as its vice president of administration.

“The promotions of these two gifted people represent AIM’s determination to assemble the most talented team possible to represent our 3,400 member companies. Nurys and Courtney represent the best of AIM, and we’re delighted to recognize their great work with these promotions,” Brooke Thomson, president and CEO of AIM, said in a Wednesday press release.

Camargo joined the Cannabis Control Commission in 2021. She was a commissioner at the agency as it worked to pass long-awaited social consumption regulations and dealt with systemic workplace culture issues.  Prior to her time at CCC, she worked as a regional director of external affairs for New England at AT&T.
