Fitchburg plays host

More than a dozen German businessmen and politicians toured Nypro Inc.‘s Clinton headquarters yesterday as part of “Discover New England as a Trading Partner,” hosted by Fitchburg and the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.

The visitors, from Fitchburg’s sister city of Kleve, Germany, arrived at Logan Airport at 5 p.m. Saturday and will depart at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Other highlights of the visit include a tour of Simonds International in Fitchburg, meetings with business courterparts in Fitchburg and Worcester and a statehouse reception with Gov. Deval Patrick.

“We hope to step up the Sister City program as it relates to B-to-B,” said Nancy Jackson, North Central Mass. Chamber’s economic development director. “The student exchange part is much more active.”
