According to the U.S. Department of Labor , 301,000 Americans filed for unemployment benefits for the first time during the week ended Jan. 19.
That’s a decrease of 1,000 from the previous week’s revised figure. The four-week moving average was 314,750, a decrease of 14,000 from the previous week.
