The federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded Raytheon Co. and its Marlborough facility a two-year contract extension to provide serves for a safety system that provides satellite-based navigation throughout North America, the company announced.
The $30.1-million contract extends the service period through Sept. 24, 2013.
The system, called the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), enables global positioning technology to meet air navigation performance and safety requirements associated with vertical guidance operations.
