Executives’ Hiring Intentions Up

More executives plan to hire professional-level staff in the fourth quarter of this year than they did for the current quarter, according to staffing firm Robert Half International.

Twelve percent of executives interviewed plan to hire, an increase of four points from the outlook for the third quarter. Meanwhile, 5 percent foresee making cuts, while 82 percent said they anticipate no changes in staffing levels. But that is down sharply from 90 percent in the third quarter.

More specifically, the legal and marketing fields are expected to see the strongest hiring activity, with a net 24 percent of lawyers and 20 percent of marketing and advertising executives planning to increase staff levels.
