Drug spray co. issued Lebanon patent

Worcester-based Generex Biotechnology Corp. said the Ministry of Economy and Trade Intellectual Property Protection Office in Lebanon granted the company a second patent for its orally absorbed drug delivery method.

The patent contains claims to pharmaceutical formulations that effectively deliver agents across oral membranes. The patent also covers the method of administration of the pharmaceuticals and metered dose dispensers.

Generex holds 85 patents worldwide, 20 of them are in the U.S. The company has 57 patent applications pending worldwide.

Generex develops drug delivery systems that put drugs into the human body through the lining of the mouth.

The company’s flagship product is orally administered insulin, which is available for sale in Ecuador and in testing and clinical trials around the world.
