Dolphin goes long-distance

Norwegian tech company Dolphin Interconnect Solutions ASA, which has its U.S. headquarters in Marlborough, will demonstrate its new PCI Express IO expansion product line at the Linuxworld/Next Generation Data Center Conference in San Francisco today.

The new products are designed to complement the recently announced Dolphin Express enterprise cluster products, and will meet the scaling requirements of enterprise and high speed embedded applications, the company said.

Current Input/Output technologies that locate main IO terminals at remote distances are limited in scale to 5-10 meters using copper cables.  Dolphin’s new products enable up to 300 meter distances through the use of fiber optic cable, according to the company.

The products will be available for sale beginning in the fourth quarter of this year, the company said.
