The parent company of Digital Federal Credit Union in Marlborough has hired the former general counsel and chief ethics officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to serve as its chief legal officer.
Steven Wright is the first new executive hired following the merger between First Tech Federal Credit Union and DCU in January. He will report directly to First Tech President and CEO Shruti Miyashiro, the company announced Monday.
In this role, Wright will lead First Tech's enterprise governance and legal affairs, government affairs, and compliance teams.
Wright joined the Federal Reserve in 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously spent 20 years as an executive partner at the Boston office of Holland & Knight, a global law firm headquartered in Florida.
Wright obtained his law degree from Boston College Law School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from East Carolina University.Â
DCU merged with California-based First Tech in January after the two firms announced their intent to combine in September 2024. The merger created an entity with $28.7 billion in assets and 2 million members across 50 branches in eight states. First Tech is the name of the merged parent company, although DCU and First Tech’s customer-facing operations will operate as independent divisions in 2026.
The merger between the two institutions was one of several high-profile mergers Central Massachusetts banking, part of a wider industry trend.Â
