Marlborough-based Cytyc Corp. and Xoft Inc., a Fremont, Calif.-based radiation therapy company, have settled an intellectual property dispute for an undisclosed amount.
According to Cytyc, the litigation stemmed from the fact that both companies had developed “balloon based brachytherapy technologies” for the treatment of breast cancer patients.
The settlement requires Xoft to pay certain royalties to Cytyc, but the California company will continue selling its brachytherapy technology. Cytyc said the companies have also “agreed to discuss potential collaboration in the development of technologies in several areas.”
