Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Caremark Corp. ‘s same-store sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 25 rose by 4.9 percent compared to the same period a year ago, according to the company.
The comany said pharmacy sales increased 4 percent, but were hurt by recent generic drug introductions. Front-end same-store sales increased by 6.8 percent in August.
During August, the company opened 15 new stores, closed three stores and relocated 13. The company operates 6,192 stores in 40 states.
