Ware-based Country Bank has brought on Ryan Stepalavich to strengthen its technological capabilities.
Hired in the role of senior vice president, chief technology officer, Stepalavich brings more than 26 years of IT and 14 years of financial services technology experience to the position, according to a bank press release issued Thursday.
Stepalavich began his career offering computer repair and technology services to local businesses before moving to multiple roles in the healthcare and banking sectors.
“We are excited to welcome Ryan to Country Bank,” Marco Bernasconi, first senior vice president, chief operating & innovation officer, said in the press release. “His extensive experience in financial technology and collaborative leadership approach will help us continue to strengthen our technology capabilities while supporting the innovative and customer-focused banking experience our communities expect.”
Stepalavich replaces John Jahne in the role. Jahne was hired in June and left in September. He now works as Chief Technology Officer for Atlantic Community Bankers Bank in Pennsylvania, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Stepalavich’s past roles include more than six years at Boston-based Beacon Bank, formerly known as Berkshire Bank, where he most recently served as vice president, principal solutions architect and engineer, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also had stints at Savings Institute Bank & Trust Company in Connecticut and Umass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Stepalavich holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Eastern Connecticut State University.
Country Bank is the 25th-largest bank in Central Massachusetts, according to information provided to the WBJ Research Department, with $398.5 million in local deposits and $2.1 billion in assets as of June 2024.
