Consumers soured their moods about future economic conditions in February compared to a month earlier as the consumer confidence index dropped more than 10 points.
A variety of indexes measured through a random survey of 5,000 households decreased this month.
The present situation index hit a 27-year low dropping from 25.2 last month to 19.4 this month. The consumer confidence index dropped from 56.5 in January to 46 this month.
The percentage of respondents who expect an improvement in business conditions in the next six months fell from 20.7 percent o 16.7 percent.
