Clark University joins affordable education network

Clark University in Worcester has joined the Massachusetts Transfer Guarantee, becoming the second Central Massachusetts college in the partnership network to help community college students obtain an affordable bachelor’s degree.

Clark signed a memorandum of understanding with the New England Board of Higher Education this spring to join the program, the university announced Thursday.

Clark joins Nichols College in Dudley as the only Central Massachusetts colleges in the program.

The Massachusetts Transfer Guarantee provides admission to four-year, degree-granting institutions to students who complete an associate degree at a Massachusetts community college with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students are considered juniors when they transfer to participating colleges like Clark.

Since launching in 2021, the program has seen 2,219 students transfer to four-year colleges, and 609 graduated with a bachelor’s degree, according to March data from the New England Board of Higher Education.
