First announced in June, the only Checkers fast food chain location in New England is set to open at 99 Gold Star Blvd. in Worcester on Feb. 10.
The location replaces a former Honey Dew Donuts at the site, which closed in March.
The franchise will be operated by Mouhamad Saleem and Kelly Moughal, two franchisees who operate existing Checkers, Subway, Little Caesars, and Pizza Hut locations on the East Coast.
The location will be led by Operating Managers Natasha Javaid and Adom Moughal, according to a Checkers press release shared Monday.
Doors will open at 10 a.m., with the first 25 patrons receiving one free order of small fries per week for a year. Checkers merchandise will be given away.
Checkers was founded in 1986 in Mobile, Alabama, and later merged with Kentucky-based Rally’s in 1999 to form Checkers & Rally’s, according to QSR Magazine. Despite the merger, the restaurants continue to operate with their own branding. The company is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
The property at 99 Gold Star Blvd. is owned by Commercial Management Inc. of Waltham, according to City of Worcester property records. The renovated building hosting Checkers was first built in 1970.
Mark Johns and Thomas Bodden of Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates in Worcester completed the lease on behalf of the property’s owner.
