Norwood-based Aspect Medical Services Inc. said it had bought 2.5 million shares of its company stock from Boston Scientific Corp. of Natick.
The 2.5 million Aspect shares are worth $37.7 million, according to the company.
The companies have ended their “neuroscience alliance,” and the stock purchase comes as part of their termination and repurchase agreement.
Medical device company Boston Scientific still owns about 1.5 million shares of Aspect common stock, and Aspect has the right to purchase more of it from Boston Scientific any time over the next six months.
The buy brings Boston Scientific’s holdings in Aspect, which makes brain monitoring technology, to 9 percent of the total amount of Aspect common stock outstanding.
