Area Firms Make Finals In Tech Competition

Two Central Massachusetts companies, uTest in Southborough and Xtalic in Marlborough, have been named finalists in the New England Innovation Awards run by the Smaller Business Association of New England.

The companies were among 20, out of 268 nominees, selected in the first phase of the contest.

uTest is an “in the wild” software testing service that allows developers to see how their products function in real-world conditions. Xtalic uses a proprietary technique to create metal alloys that can reduce the use of high-cost metals and replace toxic materials.

The companies will make a formal presentation to the association’s judges, who will select nine winners.
