Amazon has expanded its Central Massachusetts presence by leasing a 450,000-square-foot distribution warehouse in Uxbridge.
The global online retailer signed the lease on Jan. 13 for the site at 139 Campanelli Drive, according to Traded, a website which tracks real estate transactions.Â
The distribution warehouse was constructed in 2023 by Boston-based developer The Seyon Group. A company focused on industrial properties on the East Coast, Seyon purchased the property in 2021 for $18 million.
The single-story building was built on a 54-acre site and contains 108 docks, two drive-in bays, and parking space for 247 trailers, according to real estate data firm CoStar. The property’s general contractor was Braintree-headquartered Campanelli.
WBJ has reached out to Amazon for details about how the Uxbridge warehouse fits into its strategy for the region.
The property is one of several distribution sites in the area strategically located between Worcester and Providence. A nearby logistics center at 40 Lackey Dam Road sold for $120 million in February.Â
JLL of Boston secured the lease, with the efforts led by Rachel Marks, Joe Fabiano, and Mike Ciummei, according to CoStar.
The lease builds on Amazon’s presence in the region, which includes a $300-million fulfillment center in Charlton, a last-mile delivery facility at the former Greendale Mall site in Worcester, and a same-day delivery site in Westborough.Â
