AAA: Gas prices to fall by end of month

A number of oil refineries in the Gulf Coast that are either out of service or operating at a reduced level, but gasoline prices should begin falling by the end of the month, AAA said in a press release Monday.

Prices in Massachusetts were flat in the past week.

According to AAA, a Monday survey of prices in the state found the average unleaded regular prices to be $2.70 per gallon, three cents above the national average and 60 cents above last year’s average of $2.10.

Gasoline supplies dropped last week due to Hurricane Harvey slamming into Texas from the Gulf of Mexico and gas prices began to climb, but as the region begins to recover and oil refineries come back online, prices should begin to decrease later this month, AAA said.
