Title: VP of Sales and Co-founder
Company: eClinicalWorks
Company location: Westborough

Career highlights: I began my career at Integra Microsystems, where I served as a lead engineer for developing web-based document management software, later moving to Novell Inc. to develop applications for remote desktop and network management. Both of these positions helped lay the groundwork for eClinicalWorks.
In 1999, I brought my experience to eClinicalWorks as one of the co-founders. I oversee the company’s technical direction and lead eClinicalWorks’s services efforts in the areas of architecture, design and sales. Using my previous expertise, I also serves as one of the original key contributors who designed and built the company’s web-based technology architecture.
Biggest professional success: When eClinicalWorks began, existing electronic health record (EHR) systems were expensive and primarily geared towards hospitals, ignoring physician practices. To fill that gap, the company developed an EHR solution for practices of all sizes, offering more functionality than traditional EHRs and at a lower price point than many competitors.
Businessperson he admires most and why: Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc., recognizes a gap in the marketplace and creates disruptive innovations to fill in what’s missing, such as with the iPod, demonstrating an ability to drastically change the status quo of an industry.
Favorite movie: Jurassic Park because of the impressive technology used to create the film.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do? If not with eClinicalWorks, I’d be behind a desk, in front of a chalkboard, in a classroom full of children teaching math or science.
