bankHometown

An Open Letter to Members of Our Community:

Since 1889, bankHometown has supported its customers, employees, and communities not only during times of prosperity and optimism, but in times of hardship and uncertainty. I could not be more proud to lead a community bank that serves our customers with such commitment, passion, and heart.

We’re here for local business.

When the SBA launched its Paycheck Protection Program, bankHometown sprang into action to help business owners in central Massachusetts and northeast Connecticut access these funds and keep their people employed.

  • bankHometown approved more than 700 PPP loans totaling approximately $67 million, allowing local businesses to keep more than 7,500 employees on the payroll.
  • We helped small businesses who needed it most, with 90% of our PPP loans under $250,000.
  • Our commercial lending team was proactive, accessible, and responsive in helping business owners weather the storm.

Time and again, our business customers tell us they’re grateful we helped them secure this economic lifeline so quickly. These uncertain times have proven that having a solid relationship with a community bank like bankHometown is valuable in supporting and sustaining small businesses.

We’re here for our customers.

As a community bank, we understand the critical role we play in the well-being of our communities as well as our responsibilities to our customers. We moved quickly to transform our business so our customers could count on us.

  • Our branch drive-ups remain open for regular hours and our branch managers and staff are readily accessible to help customers who rely on our services to live their lives, support their families, or make payroll.
  • We’re working with our customers facing financial stress and hardship during this crisis and supporting their needs with kindness and compassion.
  • We’re helping customers embrace the convenience and capabilities of bank-at-home services, many for the first time.
  • In our branch lobbies, we’re implementing a wide range of personal protection measures that ensure our locations will be safe to do business.

We’re here for our community…today and tomorrow.

We’ve been in business for over 130 years because our commitment to our customers and communities has not wavered. Now more than ever, I’m confident that we can rise to meet any challenge we face…together.

Sincerely,
Robert J. Morton
