AIS: Innovation, hard work and passion lead to longevity

(l-r) Nick Haritos, President and CEO, and Bruce Platzman, co-founder and Vice Chairman, at NeoCon 2021.

For more than 30 years, AIS has lead the mid-market in the commercial office furniture sector, with growth outpacing other industry manufacturers. Much of the company’s success can be attributed to our dedicated and trained workforce who are focused on delivering a quality, American-made product with exemplary customer service.

From workstations to conference rooms, private offices to cafeterias, individual work lounges to general meeting areas, AIS offers a vast selection of products. Our award-winning office furniture and workplace accessories have been recognized by industry leaders for innovation and certified for safety, durability, and air quality standards.

Whether it’s executive office suites or touchdown stations for on-the-go use, AIS’ design aesthetic combined with contemporary fabrics and finishes offer both an upscale look and value for established companies and start-ups alike. In response to changing work environments, we recently launched a new hybrid-friendly work lounge that offers privacy, acoustical advantages, and is easy to clean.

AIS products are BIFMA-compliant and meet or exceed industry standards for safety and durability. AIS products also are SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold certified.

AIS customers come from both the public and private sectors and every industry from banking and financial services, law firms and legal services, and higher education to healthcare providers and research facilities, state and municipal offices, and many others.

AIS has permanent showrooms at the Leominster headquarters and in Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C. where customers of all sizes visit to see the latest products and workplace trends.

Committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion, AIS employs a highly diverse workforce representing more than 35 countries of origin and is a member of the AARP Employer Pledge Program, a nationwide group of employers affirming the value of experienced workers.

AIS also provides tuition reimbursement and training opportunities, including our own company run program, AIS University. We partner with six local organizations to provide job skills training in our factory. In an average week, more than 20 job coaches mentor and supervise 45 + interns to strengthen their educational plans and help them achieve their goals.

AIS is the recipient of the coveted Shingo Prize for excellence in lean manufacturing. Named to the Inc. 2021 Best in Business list, AIS received a silver medal in the manufacturing category. In 2022, AIS was awarded the Best of NeoCon Silver Award and an Innovation Award for PET Wire Managers and Enclosures.

AIS supports more than a dozen human service, civic, and other nonprofit organizations through financial contributions, sponsorships, and volunteerism. Hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of furniture and installation services have been donated to area organizations to support the work they do on behalf of our community.

At the outset of the pandemic, AIS provided local communities with high-quality face masks made in our factory. Soon dubbed “Sew the Masks,” the program donated 600,000 face coverings to 31 states.

According to Nick Haritos, president and CEO, the company’s success can be attributed to innovation, hard work, and passion. “The culture that was created 33 years ago by our founders is probably our greatest asset. The development, happiness, and success of our employees always come first, and our environment fosters well-being and personal growth. At AIS, taking care of business and taking care of our people are one in the same,” he said.
