A Natick development firm is planning a new shopping plaza on Worcester’s Grove Street, with two national casual-dining restaurant chains planned as tenants.

McGovern Auto bought the site at 401 Elm St. on Friday from Florida-based EJR Real Estate Trust.

The nonprofit focused on Lowell because the city has one of the highest rates of opioid-related emergency room visits in the state.

Constructed in 1982, Longfellow Plaza contains a mix of retail and office space.

Worcester’s Main South Community Development Corp. has opened six new affordable and lease-to-own commercial condominiums. 

WRA has had a part in several key development projects in the city, including the Polar Park baseball stadium and the attempted redevelopment of the Denholm Building.

The campaign behind the proposal to implement statewide rent control said Tuesday that conversations with real estate industry representatives have been fruitful.

Berkeley Partners’ purchase equals about $219 per square foot. 

Of the 15 properties listed for sale, some recently-developed or improved parcels are marketed for their current income generation, while other listings are presented as development opportunities.
