International rubber sole manufacturer Vibram has formed a North American promotional athletic team featuring eight new athletes, from sports ranging from skyrunning to ultramarathoners.

Founded in Italy, with a production plant in North Brookfield, Vibram’s soles and shoes are specifically designed for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts who rock climb, mountain bike, ski, and trail run.

Through the company’s promotional athletic teams, Vibram supplies selected athletes with branded apparel and footwear throughout their training periods and competitions, according to a Vibram spokesperson in a written statement.

Prior to the United States, Vibram formed teams in Europe and China.

The 2022 United States athletic team is composed of the following athletes:

  • Abby Jahn: A competitive skyrunner who lives in Alaska with her canine training partner, Rémy. Skyrunning is the sports where athletes run up mountains.
  • Alyssa Clark: An ultra trail runner, meaning she runs marathons over the standard marathon distance of 26.2 miles, Clark holds the Guinness World Record for 95 marathons in 95 days
  • Amber Febbraro: An ultra trail runner, who is an advocate for diversity in the sport and outdoor community
  • Corbyn Jahn: A  triathlete and marathoner who works with Alaskan Native villages to provide water and sewer service
  • Kevin Capps: A rock-climbing guide and climber with more than 150 first ascents
  • Meredith Edwards: A professional ultra trail runner
  • Michael Mawn: A men’s snowboard winner of the 2022 Freeride World Tour Baqueira Beret in Spain
  • Sienna Kopf: A climbing athlete who won the 2021 Combined Pan-American Championship in Los Angeles

Vibram plans to study the use of its products in athletic competitions to gain insights into future product developments through product testing and feedback.

“The value of sport has always been intrinsic to the DNA of Vibram and since its foundation we have been committed to supporting athletes. Our expansion into the U.S. allows us to get to know the community even more as we develop products together with each athlete, gaining insights into their product and performance needs," said Fabrizio Gamberini, president and global chief brand officer of Vibram, in a press release.
