Director of finance – corporate functions
Boston Scientific Corp., Marlborough
Lives: Northborough
Birthplace: Pullman, Wash.
College: Brigham Young University – Idaho
With just five years of experience at Boston Scientific under his belt, Jones was asked to take the role of interim controller for the company's neuromodulation division, taking on a level of responsibility and visibility he previously didn't think he was ready for. He was, as the division grew from $271 million to $635 million in the last seven years. For those efforts, he earned the company's Excellence in Finance Leadership Award. Now, he controls $700 million of functional spending at Boston Scientific. He led the finance integration of the medical device giant's acquisition of Burlington-based Cosman Medical in 2016. Now, he manages a team of 11 finance professionals and serves as the finance business partner for company executives and leadership members. He spends a significant amount of time on causes close to himself at work, at home and in the community. At work, he supports the American Heart Association. At home, he coaches youth soccer and baseball and sits on the board of the National Kidney Foundation and is a fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund, Team Impact and Golf Fights Cancer. Cancer research hits home for Jones, as his son has been battling a rare form of lymphoma and is now in remission. In the community, Jones serves as a committee chairman for the Boy Scouts of America and has been scoutmaster.
From 40 Under Forty judge Michael Arnum: “An enthusiastic leader who, despite personal challenges, has provided solid financial advice and nonprofit leadership.”
