Discovery Museum, MathWorks renew STEM partnership

The Discovery Museum in Acton and Natick's MathWorks have renewed their long-running program bringing STEM education to classrooms across the region.
The Discovery Museum, which announced the extended partnership Wednesday, has been holding the Traveling Science Workshops for 25 years. MathWorks, a software developer, has underwritten the program for the past seven years.
The Traveling Science Workshops, which serve pre-K to eighth-grade classrooms throughout New England, is the only classroom-based program of its kind in Massachusetts, according to the Discovery Museum. STEM programs include science, technology, engineering and math.
The program is expected to serve more than 31,000 students in more than 1,500 classrooms this year, its sixth-straight year of growth. The workshops include new lessons on weather and climate, force and magnetism, and force and motion. More workshops are being piloted for use next year, the museum said.
