Hudson solar installer gets new CEO

New England Clean Energy, a Hudson solar installation company, has hired a new CEO to lead the company through a transitional period for the solar industry.
Doug McCartney, who joined the company in 2014 as director of sales, has been promoted to the CEO role. The solar industry is consolidating as it becomes more mainstream, and customers expect a different type of buying experience than what early adopters did. McCartney said he wants to help bring the company into that next phase of the industry.
As director of sales, he established New England Clean Energy’s solar business, oversaw residential sales, and helped five small-scale community solar programs succeed. Before that, he ran his own consultancy and worked in senior positions at several software companies. In total, he has 20 years of experience managing new and emerging companies.
McCartney is a graduate of Colby College and received a master’s of business administration from Boston College. He lives in Sudbury.
